Samoa has recently become the first of PIRMCCM’s eleven programme countries to launch a public-private partnership to address tuberculosis (TB), HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
The partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Ministry of Health of Samoa and mobile network provider Digicel will see a mass media campaign established in Nauru, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu, beginning this week and running throughout 2017.
The campaign will involve text message services which allow subscribers to access information regarding prevention, testing, treatment, care and support services.
