AIDS

AIDS is the name used to describe a combination of potentially life-threatening infections and cancers, which can develop when someone’s immune system has been damaged by HIV.

You cannot catch AIDS and there is no AIDS test. HIV causes AIDS and it is HIV that can be passed on.

MALARIA

The life cycle of the malaria parasite is split between humans and female mosquitoes. It all begins with a bite from a malaria-infected mosquito.

TUBERCULOSIS

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The bacteria usually attack the lungs, but TB bacteria can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain.

If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal.
